shatters daydreams
when hastily forgotten
by the distraction
of a pebble in the sandal.
Reaching for the strap,
piercing quartz falls
from plastic and brass
as if a monster
wants to devour it.
Bending over
ungraciously highlights
a flaw is overwhelming
a summer stroll.
