Fat Finger A

an unknown aura waves at me—
hey that fat
finger will touch the wrong key.
you are not a mistake.

Try as I may,
the ess is not an ay.
something is releasing
ideas found newly set
on my calendar. do
i look that old
flies on a ragged flag
over confidence
and not caring.

chill comforts
the will to learn
the matters from the
fat finger tapping.

~~~~~~~~~~
First poem of the year in my 1960s style of silly
and discovering cool. I know that rhythm, kick and slide. What as I know it, may not be how others hear it.
I had a teacher once that would act irritated when students didn’t interpret the reading material her way, the established way. No room for discovery dulls a learners enthusiasm. I remember her lousy attitude, not the subject’s material. I put a lot of study in for each assignment, felt fully prepared for every class.
